Keira Jane Nesmith, a by-the-book FBI agent, never dreamed she’d be working a sex club to solve a friend’s murder. But she’s vowed nothing will stand in her way to get to the truth, not even the scorching attraction she has for Ryan Hargety. A man she must submit to while she investigates the club’s underground sex slave trade. A man she might have to take down to find justice for her friend.
When a friend asks for help uncovering a human trafficking ring, Haddon Ryan is happy to pay back a favor. As Ryan Hargety, he doesn’t count on one of the sex club employees distracting him to the point of blowing his cool or his cover. But Haddon suspects the woman who submits to him isn’t who she says she is. When she proves too much to resist, he’s willing to play her game.
“Keira’s Promise” is one hot read. Right at the beginning I was thrown right into a rollercoaster of emotions. Sad, cause someone was obviously in bad shape, even though I knew the person wouldn’t make it. I was hoping I was wrong though. Then anger when I learned how young the person was and what exactly happened, which lead to main feelings of revenge. I liked how Keira didn’t even hesitate to take revenge for the person that was so close to her, she had made up her mind then and there. She was going to get her revenge, no matter the consequences. And those consequences were great and certainly didn’t go unpunished afterwards.
While she went spying and researching she came across ex US Marshall Hadden, a roughed up Texan, alpha man all the way. When he saw Keira for the first time he was already intrigued by her, and he only had seen her from a distant. Then when he saw her for the second time, and he talked, felt and kissed her it send sparks all over the place. The sexual chemistry between the two could be cut by a knife. No matter the sexy scenes and the sizzling going on between the two the story continued. Giving me action and a little bit of suspense. I have to admit that the murderers identity could have been more concealed, some false leads and twists in the story could have heightened the suspense level more.
I simply loved this story and was honestly quite bummed when I came to the end of the book. Just where Haden and Keira were settling a score and professed their feelings for each other it ended.
I will definitely read more from this author, and would recommend reading this book if you like erotic reads with a good story, great characters that are willing to do anything in their power to get the bottom of a case and of course if you’re looking for sizzling sexual chemistry.
